John went to Glascow, Scotland as a young man and worked as a conductor and driver of trams. In 1914 he joined the Royal Enniskilling Fuseliers (No. 29908). He fought with his Regiment in the Somme Valley. He was taken as a POW to Germany and worked on farms, mostly with horses, until the end of World War I. He then returned to Meenreagh, Killybegs, Co. Donegal. The above information was provided by Catherine Brophy.

Stayed in Ireland and lived in the parental home with his wife and son, Thomas.

Kathleen has John died 1965 at age 90.
