Note for:   Mary Haggerty (Hegarty),   ABT 1825 - unknown         Index
Note:   Birth information from LDS Ancestral File.

Fran found the name Mary for Thomas' wife, in John Mulhern Sr's death record at W-B Court House. Lists father Thomas and mother Mary.

I would love to find descendants of other Haggertys (Hegartys) from Killybegs, Co. Donegal, Ireland, that might be related to Mary and her siblings. I have no other information at all on Mary. Kathleen Mulhern Brophy has been to the church in Killybegs, and was unable to find any documents on Thomas and Mary's marriage.

This was only Mulherin listed in Jeddo in 1880 Census.

Patrick was 39 years old in 1885, and living in Jeddo, PA. Occupation: Miner.

1900 Census lists Patrick MULHERRIN, age 54, born 1846 in Ireland, living in Hazle Township, 1st District, Luzerne County; with wife Bridget, age 46, born 1853 in New York, mother of nine children seven still living; also following children: Chas, age 22, born 1877 in PA; Thomas, age 20, born 1880 in PA; Joseph, age 17, born 1882 in PA; John, age 15, born 1885 in PA; Mary, age 12, born 1887 in PA; Frances, age 7, born 1892 in PA; and Annie, age 5, born 1895 in PA.
(Francis, son, was listed as daughter Frances. This was an error.)

NOTE: Jeddo and Freeland are in Foster Township, Luzerne County. Oakdale, Drifton and Hazleton are in Hazle Township, Luzerne County. This would indicate they were living in Oakdale in 1900. They moved from Jeddo to Oakdale some time between 1885 and 1900.

Was living in Oakdale in December, 1905, per Peter's obituary. (Oakdale is between Hazleton and Freeland).

Patrick born Ireland, Bridget born New York and all children born PA.
Occupations listed are: Patrick, laborer in a coal colliery; Charles, miner; Joseph, a restauranteur; John, a miner; Mary, unemployed; Francis, a coal miner; and Anna, unemployed.
Patrick is listed as having been 27 years of age at time of first marriage. If we keep his date of birth as 1846, this would mean married about 1873.

Patrick's residence is listed as Jeddo in son Joseph's marriage record of June, 1929.

(The following Census information was provided by Iva Hanlon.)
1930 Census lists Patrick, age 83, widowed, living in Oakdale, Luzerne County with son John, age 45; and daughter Anna, age 30 or 35.
