According to Kathleen Brophy John came to America in 1880, when daughter Susan was a baby. They came over with their ten living children at that time. Three more children were born in the US.
They must have arrived in the US between May 1880 when Susan was born in Ireland, and October 1883 when James was born in PA.

According to Iva Hanlon: John settled in East End when he came to America. Her records indicate he arrived in 1882. She believes he arrived in US much earlier than 1882.
Obituary states he arrived in US 17 years earlier, which would have been about 1882.
Name spelled MULHERIN in obituary.

Living on Scott Street in Jan. 1907, according to daughter Susan's wedding announcement.
