Note for:   Theresa [Grace] Veronica Gallagher,   25 NOV 1873 - 17 JUN 1958         Index
Burial:
     Date:   JUN 1958
Place:   St. Mary's Cemetery, W-B, PA

Year of Immigration to the U.S. listed as 1894 in 1910 Census. In 1910Census her age was listed as 32, which would have made her year ofbirth 1878. This information is incorrect. Her age at Immigrationwould have been 16, based on this information.

Marriage license application of June 1900 lists her age as 25. Alsolists her place of residence as Tunkhannock, PA, and occupation asHousekeeper. (Application for marriage was filled out in WyomingCounty Court House in Tunkhannock.) This application also states herand Andrew were married in Pittston, PA by E. A. Garvey. She alsostated on this application that her parent's names were Manus and MaryGallagher, which tells me the birth certificate we have for her iscorrect (born 25 Nov. 1873). She was actually 26 when she filled outapplication.
She and Andrew were married at St. John the Evangelist Church, inPittston, PA on June 7, 1900.
Married by: Rev. E.A. Garvey, with witnesses Jeremiah Walsh and MaryWalsh present.
This info taken from Certificate of Marriage furnished by St. John'schurch.

She returned to Ireland for a visit along with children Peter and Marywhen they were small, in the year 1904 according to letters fromJoseph to Theresa.
Aunt Angie Mulherin said Theresa went back to Ireland for a visit whenUncle Pete was 3 years old. Aunt Mary was a baby at that time. Shesaid she believes they stayed over there about a year. Uncle Andrewwas born 2 years after Aunt Mary, so one year at most sounds aboutright.

I found Theresa listed on the Ellis Island records on the internet. Her name listed as: Teresa Mulhern, age 27. Place of residence listedas Donegal. She travelled from the port of Londonderry, and arrivedEllis Island, New York on Sept. 26, 1904. Name of the ship was theAstoria. Also listed on that ship's list was Peter, age 3 years, a UScitizen, residence Donegal. Also, Mary, age 9 years 9 months (errorhere, she was 1 year 2 months old at the time). Mary also a UScitizen, and residence Donegal.
