These
are the main surnames I am researching:
DEVLIN
- Mary DEVLIN was born 1830 in Scotland. Her father Frank DEVLIN
and mother (Sarah?) were both born in Scotland according to
1880 Census. Don't know when she arrived in the U.S., but she
was listed on the 1880 Census as living in Hanover Township,
Pennsylvania, with her husband Andrew RUDDY and their children.
GALLAGHER - My grandmother, Theresa (Grace) GALLAGHER was born
in 1873 in Magheralosk, in the townland of Meenaduff, County
Donegal, Ireland. Her father was Manus GALLAGHER and her mother
Mary MCGARVEY. Theresa came to the U.S. in 1894, according to
the 1910 Census. She married Andrew J. MULHERIN in 1900 in Pittston,
Pennsylvania. They had 5 children.
McGARVEY
- Mary MCGARVEY, my great-grandmother on my mother's side, was
born 1841 in Magheralosk, in the townland of Meenaduff, County
Donegal, Ireland. She married Manus GALLAGHER in 1870 in Magheralosk.
Mary and Manus had 6 children. Mary died there in 1910.
MULHERIN/MULHERN
- Several variations of this name, including MULHEARN. My MULHERIN
immigrant ancestor was Peter MULHERIN, who came to the U.S.
from County Donegal, Ireland, where he was born in 1841 in the
Killybegs area. He arrived with two brothers, John and Patrick,
and settled in the Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania area. Peter married
Sarah RUDDY about 1871.

RUDDY
- Sarah Agnes RUDDY was born in Scotland in 1850. I haven't
located the town she was born yet, but her sister Ellen (Helen)
was born in Lanark, Scotland in 1857, and her brother Francis
(Frank) was born in Lanark in 1860. Sarah's father Andrew RUDDY
was born in Ireland, and her mother Mary DEVLIN was born in
Scotland. The 1900 Census lists Sarah's year of immigration
as 1864. She married Peter MULHERIN about 1871, and had 9 children.
